A beginning and a pattern

Good Morning and Happy Sunday! We're on day three of crazy high temperatures and it looks like they are finally going to start falling tomorrow. Thankfully the lower level of the townhouse stays fairly comfortable as long as I don't open the windows. Upstairs is about fifteen degrees warmer with the windows open. Cold showers and keeping a pile of wet hair on my head helps with staying cool.
What have we been up to this week? Amanda started grad school! Her first week was spent with a day of orientation, two days of classes and two days of observation in the operating room. There are twelve students in the program, and it sounds like she is having a blast. Next week will be more of the same, with Monday, Wednesday and Friday observing and classes on Tuesday and Thursday. She will do that until the last week of August when traditional classes start on campus.
Serra and I had a quiet week. She has done a lot of sleeping and a bit of packing for college. In between chauffeuring me to lessons and classes, she has been soaking up time with friends. I hope she got some sleep last night! For work, the latest issue of PieceWork was released last Thursday.
For crafts, I was able to get the Christmas Lights pattern finished and posted here.

It's fun pattern that uses Little Squirrel Yarn acorn skeins. The mitts are the same yarn and next in the queue to release once I take some photos. More hexies joined the pile and I worked a bit more on my bandweaving. I have two ideas that I want to string up on the Gilmore Curl. I also got some spinning done for Tour de Fleece.
The first batt is finished, and the second batt prepped to start a new spindle. It's a good thing the women's race makes Tour de Fleece longer so that I have enough time to finish!
As for me, it was good week. Serra's college checklist is getting completed and plans to go out are set. I have been taking a bit a time each day to work on things for me. Ankle is coming along. I can flex and point my foot fairly well without pain. Still not allowed to put any weight on it. I am sleeping far too much and the Aircast is annoying. It does help with the swelling, and I can take it off at night. I go back and forth between needing to push harder to get farther and knowing that I am exactly where I am supposed to be. I finally decided that the remainder of the year is for healing and planning to hit the ground running, literally and figuratively with the new year.
Next week! More of the same. Amanda at grad school and Serra having fun and getting ready for college. Me? Work to take care of, a pattern to post and class to teach. Breathe, relax, believe, dream, Love, know that every little thing is gonna be alright, and I'll be back next week :)
