A colorful Easter

Good Morning and Happy Sunday! It looks like it will be a beautiful day with the blue sky and sunshine already happening outside. I know the last two nights of amazing sleep have brightened my outlook considerably.

What did we do this week? Serra is cranking away on classes, work, research and having an all-around good time at college. She loves scaring her friends with spicy food and horror movies. The only problem is the horror movies do scare her friends, and Serra ends up sleeping over so they know everything is okay. She has had a long lazy weekend as there were no classes for Good Friday. Only a few more weeks to go until she's back for the summer and we have FaceTime planned for this evening.

Amanda is still cranking away on the job hunt. Nothing like receiving a rejection email six months after you applied for a position. That's how far behind companies are on this process or they keep a stash of resumes in reserve in case the first or second round of interviews don't go well. Thankfully one she applied to this week got straight back to her with a call on Friday. It went well so hopefully she will hear more this week and have another interview. Baseball and hockey are also on the menu. Trouble is she's not sure her hockey team is interested in making the playoffs. I guess we'll see what happens and still watch the Cup finals regardless of who makes it.

Crafts as usual were all over the place this week!

I started the next scarf on the blue dyed warp. This is an advancing twill pattern that I will need to take serious notes on if I ever want to repeat it. My threading and tie up have not exactly followed the original scheme from the book I was following. Just thinking of ways to keep it interesting!

I also spent some time with the Starflower blanket, knitting a shrug pattern, teaching three classes at Loopy and spinning. The new marled yarns got a bath and measured.

For not having any kind of plan, I am very happy with how they turned out! Each skein is about 300 yards at 14 wpi. Seeing the four of them together makes me think of the four seasons and my brain is already creating a pattern for them. Oh darn! It means I need to spin more. I pulled out a bundle of black merino that will now go with them.

Like crafts, I too was all over the place this week. Up, down and in some ways, a wreck. I didn't realize how heavy the world had gotten until I had a few precious moments to put it down for a spell. Greatly appreciate the balancing. It also let me see some of the joy and good things I'm doing. One of my students this week absolutely warmed my heart. She was thrilled to sit down with yarn and needles again, scared that she wouldn't be able to. Instead, she was amazed at the how quickly her hands remembered, and veils parted to allow memories of her mother teaching her years ago came back to the surface. It just made me happy to be doing the things I am right now. It helps me believe in myself and that I'm in the right place, especially when I have a week full of doubt.

Next week! I know it's silly to say more of the same when every day is a new day. The rhythm is the same, but every day brings a different view, a different outlook and different choices to be made. Be open to possibilities, revel in the bright spots, do the houseplanty things, and know the world won't always be this much. Take care and I'll be back next week :)
