Good Morning and Happy Sunday! It is finally cold in my little corner of the Fort and according to the wet cars outside it rained a bit too. The moisture wasn't only from the sprinklers startling me in the wee hours after an extremely weird dream. I was lucky to go back to sleep and clocked a good nine hours last night. Another unusual thing.
This week belonged to the cats and dogs with the girls. One of Amanda's housemates has a therapy dog for her diabetes. Well, said human went on an overnight trip without dear Rover and it sounds like the poor dog has separation anxiety. Most of Friday and Saturday Rover was glued to Amanda. It's a good thing she likes him!
A few hours south, dorms were much different when I went to college. Now you can have pets in the dorms. Serra's roommate went and picked a cat out at the shelter. Thankfully Serra went with her. The cat they found is a short hair and supposedly hypoallergenic which is a good thing as Serra is allergic to Colorado cats. My guess is that the ones she encountered here were all long haired or a Maine Coon cross. Tulip is an older, ginger cat that loves people and cuddles. The plan was to trim her nails this weekend, so I'll find out how that went.
Lots of writing and meetings for work this past week with creating new processes. I am in one of the slower swings and need to jump ahead on some work that isn't time sensitive and will help to have done early when shoots take over soon.
Crafting as usual was all over the place with some finishing. I completed a couple of hexies and Serra's socks.
I still have half the yarn available for a pair for me.
The breakfast spin got plied.
My little bucket of mini skeins is growing.
Before you ask, no I do not know what I am going to do with them when I have them all spun.
Rumple has also been getting some love as the ankle can handle treadling. I started a spin of white Merino/Bamboo blend back in the spring with the thought of making embroidery thread. My plan is to make a two-ply thread and divide it into small skeins then dye half of them with protein dye and half with cellulose dye to see what happens. It might be really cool, and it might be very boring. At least I will end up with some interesting thread at the end.
Flynn also finished the weaving. I realized as I was almost done with the plain weave scarf that I didn't leave enough room for my usual length of fringe on each piece. Guess I am out of practice.
All of the looms are naked, so it is time to do some brainstorming for next projects. I'm feeling a 60/2 silk for Rapunzel at the moment.
As for me, the week was a bit all over the place. A couple of normal days, work, craft, sports, and the gym. A day where absolutely nothing went right that had a crappy mood and overthinking, a botched batch of cookies and hitting a squirrel, and a glorious, amazing day. With the Autumn Equinox being today I guess that counts as balance? Maybe this week will not have the wild swings this one did. Even with some good things thrown it would work for me. With settling into a routine, I have realized that Saturday is probably my least favorite day of the week and need to figure out a way to make it better.
Next week! I hate to say more of the same but that is what life is to some degree isn't it? Finding balance and joy in the everyday while treasuring the unexpected and glorious moments that are the shining beads on the thread of life. Breathe, relax, center, Love, balance, and I'll be back next week :)
