Good Morning and Happy Sunday! The skies are looking a little grey outside the patio door today and it might have even rained last night. We seriously need the moisture in the area, especially after the windstorm blowing a ton of dust around on Friday. The patio isn't quite Arrakis but it's close. Saturday saw the beginning of 5K season, as there was one on the lake. We're also at the point of spring where it's not quite cold enough to turn the heat back on but you still need something extra. Fuzzy slippers to the rescue this morning.
What did we do this week? Serra is almost done with classes for the semester! One more round tomorrow for students to ask questions followed by one of the best college traditions ever: Midnight Breakfast. The event is what it says on the tin. The dining hall staff serves breakfast at midnight on the last day of classes and according to Serra, they go all out. I'm sure she will load her plate up with a ton of very crispy bacon to celebrate. She finished the week strong with doing amazing on her calc exam after spending the day before it supporting a bestie at the hospital. Crazy proud of her for the work she put in on the class and for taking care of herself during a very stressful time. She also attended a research conference at another university to get an idea of what she'll get to do next year for her yeasties. Three final exams and a lot of packing will fill up her next two weeks.
Amanda is hanging in on the job hunt. She got her homework completed for the PA position a week early as this Wednesday was the deadline. As for the MA position, she got a call on Tuesday saying she is through to the next round. Now it's just waiting for the scheduling phone call. While I understand how difficult it is to coordinate the schedules of multiple people, it is even more so to be patient on the other end! We are simply because there is nothing else that can be done. When this company says wait, you wait. Fingers crossed for a call on Monday for a chat later in the week. In the meantime, we've had the sports bar going with multiple games going at the same time.
Outside of the day job, time has been spent weaving, knitting and spinning. I finished the current color on the breakfast spin.

And here is the next little rolag.

I still don't know what I am going to do with the skeins when I'm finished but they are pretty together.

I am officially halfway through the bundle.
The hexie blanket is also growing! Amanda and I pinned in another round yesterday.

I'm down to about four hexies of each color remaining. After this round is attached, I'll use the rest to finish off the corners. Three skeins of yarn was way too much to overdye, so the blanket is going to get a healthy sized border once it is all connected.
As for me, I let everything go this week and guess what? The world kept spinning and didn't fall apart. There's been so much that I've tried to control and keep in check that it was overwhelming and the only person it was affecting was me, so I let it all go. It doesn't mean I didn't take care of my responsibilities because of course I did that. I simply let it all go, a hard task for a type A psycho like me, thing is I feel better for it. The only things I can control are myself and how I respond to the world around me. I'm back to a favorite movie quote, "You cannot beat a river into submission; you have to surrender to its current and use its power as your own." I'm back to the river and riding its current.
Next week! Midnight breakfast and finals prep for Serra. Hopefully a panel interview with the big company for Amanda and more sports bar antics. Me? All of the things including migrating the website. Lots of things from the last ten years download and save. Breathe, do the houseplanty things, Love, find the right path for YOU, and I'll be back next week :)
