Firsts and lasts

Good Morning and Happy Sunday! Finally cooler temperatures have arrived, and people are enjoying them by spending time on the lake. I don't mind the easy slide into fall, even if pumpkin drinks are already out of control.

We had an absolute whirlwind of a week. So much so that I'm having trouble remembering what date Monday was! I just had to check the calendar. Amanda had her long-awaited interview that went well. She thinks the person liked her and was told she would receive an email this week from the next group. It took her friend a couple of weeks of interviews, so I am working on being patient with the Universe. I was so anxious for her that she was able to scare the crap out of when she was done. My brain was elsewhere, and I didn't hear her until it was too late.

Serra spent one last day and one very late night out with the best friend in between packing to go back to campus. We headed out early Friday morning.

Thankfully there was no trouble with the flight, retrieving her bags, and getting up to Allentown. The drive was a treat for anyone that loves old cars as there was a show happening over the weekend that they were traveling to. About every fourth car was at least fifty years old and in gorgeous condition. We remembered a favorite restaurant, had a big dinner and tucked in for the night.

After breakfast, some philosophical conversation and a bit of shopping, we headed to campus. It was a much different scene from last year's massive welcoming party as it was quiet for the sophomores. Serra however had her own welcoming party.

They promptly stole her bags and hauled them up the two flights of stairs to her room before she even had the chance to get her key. After adjusting her bed and helping another parent with the same task, we headed out to do some shopping.

Of course, through all of this the clock just keeps ticking and the time for me to head out draws near. After the always extended goodbye in the parking lot, she headed inside, and I left for the airport. Once I was settled on the plane I realized that I've never flown at night before!

I'm pretty sure that second image was Chicago and Lake Michigan. The light pollution is terrible even if it does make for a lovely sight from the air. It was smooth sailing the whole way. It was the fastest 42-hour trip from start to finish! I hope Serra takes the day to settle in and get ready for classes tomorrow.

It was a quiet week of crafting even with my overpacking of them for the trip. I did get in a few rounds of knitting on Serra's socks before the captain turned the lights completely off on the way home.

As for me, it was a good week. The Universe is moving and doing its thing. Best thing I can do is trust that it will all turn out the way it is supposed to. It doesn't need me poking it to hurry up. A newsletter I read also expressed this. We always document and remember the firsts because we can see them coming. We don't do this with the lasts because we never know when the last of something will be. The last time we are going to do something or see someone. I just remembered Doctor Who did an episode like this as well. Effort should be put into every moment because we don't know if it will be the last moment.

This week! The start of classes for Serra, and hopefully another interview for Amanda. Me? Classes, craft and another two-day shoot. Breathe, smile, ground, Love, embrace change, and I'll be back next week :)
