Good Morning and Happy Sunday! A cloudless bright blue sky is greeting me outside the patio door today. Thankfully the heat of summer is finally winding down and evenings are cooling off which helps sleep. Amanda having the window open on the other side of the place is just the right amount to keep both of us comfortable. I think the forecast is calling for clear skies today.
What did we do this week? Monday feels ages ago! Serra has spent the week reconnecting with college friends and settling into the groove of campus life. I'm told homework for next week is already done and she is disappointed about not having class tomorrow with the holiday. She now plans to spend the day playing Minecraft and I'm sure she's still asleep this morning, even with the two-hour time difference.
Amanda got some not so great news about the interview and has put her nose back to the grindstone on the job hunt this week. She is pumping out a lot of applications. We've also been enjoying a rewatch of Orphan Black and baseball. Her beloved Cubs are in town this weekend and we were at the 4-3 win last night.
My week was busy with a two-day shoot and unexpected meetings. Fall classes at Loopy are slow to sign up, so if you are local and looking to learn a new skill, check out the website. As for crafting, I have shows to prepare for. My items will be at the HeARTista's Creative Mercantile October 3-4 and I will be at the Fort Collins Artisan Market November 28-29 at the Fort Collins Senior Center. With shows happening I have been back at the loom.
I love the way this one changing in the light. I'm hoping to get some naked warps wound this week to do some gradient dyed items woven for the shows. One show called to ask where I imported the fabric for my scarves. Unless you count the fact that I ordered the thread from Canada, they are all handwoven by me.
As for me, I'm glad August is finally over. The month felt three times longer than it should have been and was maxed out with anxiety and worry. I've been trying to let that anxiety bleed off the last few days with extra sleep and self-care. Hopefully it will let me start September fresh. There are a few things I would like to have control of however I'm learning that wanting that control comes with expectations. Disappointment and anger come from having those expectations because a situation didn't go the way I thought it should. I hope that letting go of that need for control will get rid of the disappointment and anger. There's only so much I can do, especially when my hands aren't on the wheel. It's not worth trying to pull that wheel away from someone else. The only thing I can control is my response to the outcome.
Next week! A new month begins! We get a second Sunday that Serra will spend with Minecraft and Amanda will spend with baseball. Me? A second Sunday means another day with the Tapestry and hopefully some more self-care. Rare that I give that to myself, kind of think I need it. Breathe, be, relax, Love, let your troubles roll by, and I'll be back next week :)
