Hello 2026!

Good Morning and Happy Sunday! The first of the new year and the weather is far too nice outside. January should be wintery and cozy, instead it is mild outside and almost shorts weather. I wouldn't mind it holding through next Sunday to get Serra back to campus, however it makes me wonder what the rest of the year will be like. I would not like to see a wildfire summer again. Even though New Years was this week the humans have decided to take their lead from others. Amanda wants to following Rebekah in that the new year begins with the spring, and Serra is patiently awaiting the Fire Horse of Chinese New Year that begins February 17. One little friend is rather enjoying the full moon and the morning.

What did we do this week? It has been a week of relaxing and traditions. Amanda has powered us through a couple of seasons of the Great British Baking Show for entertainment and Serra has been taking care of her Animal Crossing island on the Switch. We had our traditional holiday dinner out and made sponge cake for New Year's Eve.

I have been in finishing mode with the end of the year. I'm down to 18 remaining hexies for my giant Starflower blanket. I still need to decide on a joining method. Rapunzel finished the black scarves.

They still need fringe twisting and a wash. I have three more dyed warps measured that might take a back seat to a 60/2 silk project I have been thinking of. Serra's second sweater is finally done and fits!

I spent part of the break shortening the sleeves and finishing the hood. It is a heavily modified version of the Besties Hoodie from Tin Can Knits. Serra must like it as she hasn't taken it off since I handed it to her. I also finished a sample of the Swallowtail Shawl that will be a class for The Loopy Ewe in April. The new year has people interested in classes again which makes me happy. Several will be running in January and there is still plenty of room to join.

As for me it's been a bumpy week. Emotions have been out of control swinging from insane rage out of nowhere, to leaky Hallmark moments and feeling that I'm good enough. What a mess. My brain knows better but my heart tends to get in the way. Maybe routine returning tomorrow will help with some of it.

This week! More down time for Serra before heading back to campus next Sunday. Hopefully good news for Amanda as companies return to work and get moving on hiring. Me? Getting back to routine and believing in myself again. Breathe, relax, flow, Love, lean into new rhythms and I'll be back next week :)
