Holiday hangover

Good Morning and Happy Sunday! It is a bright and sunny day outside the patio door with the odd pom-pom blooms getting larger. I am hoping the cooler temperatures of the last two days stay with us. It is the first summer in my new little corner and somehow it stays a good 10-15 degrees cooler than outside without trying. To say I love it here is an understatement.

What have we been up to this week? Amanda survived her holiday weekend on Long Island. She managed to get sunburnt even with generous amounts of sunscreen at a family BBQ and day at the beach. She also had her first trip to the city after being in the state of New York for five years. We learned our lesson with flying over a holiday weekend. EVERYONE flies the late flights Sunday night. DIA was an absolute mess and made for a very early Monday morning.

Serra decided to go on a sleep protest for the holiday weekend. I guess that's what happens when you are having too much fun with the best friend. I believe she might have gotten a total of 12 hours of sleep over a 48-hour period. Let's just say she was too tired to go to the airport with me and all three of us were zombies Monday. When you stretch out on the floor just to relax and instantly fall asleep you are exhausted. Amanda thought it was too funny and had to mark the occasion.

I burned up my sleep depo abilities in college and after Amanda was born so not getting my usual rest had me wiped most of the week. The second half of my week was at a two-day photo shoot. It was a joy to have the PieceWork editor come up for part of the day to join us.

The girls have tested out the pool, walked to the shops for froyo, made chicken chili and completed a puzzle as part of their entertainment this week.

Catching up on sleep and being on set left little time for crafts. I taught a lesson and two classes this Saturday. A goal this week is to get classes scheduled for the fall. Serra's first sleeve is down to the cuff.

Yes, that is another color. She is going to be the most eclectic being on campus this fall. We should get her move-in information this week and be able to make plans for her return. The Loopy Ewe also has the July Little Squirrel sock set!

Sarah's colors are just a delight! This is Electric Summer and as usual I have no idea when I will get to it or what it will become. With a neon yellow like that though I have a feeling Serra will claim something from it.

As for me it was a better week emotionally even with the sleep depo. Whenever I get this tired, I recall a line from a favorite poem. "Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness." It reminds me to be patient and step back as I am not in the proper frame of mind. We've also crested the hill of summer and soon everything is going to be rolling downhill at lightning speed. I am making time to breathe while I can.

This week! It's hard to believe July is half over but it is. School info and trip planning, job hunt beginning and files for yet another publication to review. Classes to schedule and teach along with enjoying time together and soaking in the moment. Breathe, hope, feel, smile, Love, cherish the feelings and I'll be back next week :)
