Joy of little things

Good Morning and Happy Sunday! The sky is a bright blue with streaks of pink clouds as the sun wakes up for the day. Mother Nature might be a bit confused as weather should not be this mild in December. 60* days are not the norm in an area that should be snowbound. It is dropping lower in the evenings, and I got scolded by my neighbor yesterday for being out without my coat. I love that I can still be "missy" at the age of fifty.

What were we up to this week? After staying up most of the night Monday on a bacon bender at Midnight Breakfast, Serra spent the week turning her sleep back around and studying for finals. Three down, including the dreaded Calculus. Tuesday's multiple choice Forensics exam should be a walk in the park. We'll all have a late night Wednesday impatiently waiting for her plane at DIA.

Amanda has been treating me to a lot of hockey this week as her beloved Islanders played three times. They are climbing the ranks as they won all three games, two in shootouts. A season sweep of the Tampa Bay Lightning makes her happy. As for the job hunt, she had another good conversation Monday. The hiring manager is also waiting to hear the plan to move forward. Many thanks to everyone I have talked to about this for the well wishes on the search. The positive energy helps!

Crafts saw a pause on Serra's sweater. I put the ribbing around the neckline of the hood, and it shrunk the opening down so far that it would only fit a small dog! I have taken that out and will let her get home and try it on to make modifications. Two more classes were held at Loopy along with lessons in duplicate stitch and cable surgery. I'm so glad Karen's sweater has survived the procedure! I wanted to spin just to keep my hands busy and pulled out a bundle of 12 mixed colors of Merino and Silk. The first ounce is done on Tony and I don't quite know how I will finish it yet. Maybe once I have all 12 spun an idea will come to me.

As for me, life is hanging in there. It was a week of unexpected treats with having lunch out and receiving Christmas gifts. I've now being in my new space for a year and one evening I stepped inside and felt 'home' sink into by bones. In the vein of one of my favorite fantasy series, it means I've found the landscape I belong in. I'm certain not stable or secure yet, but maybe I feel safe enough now to start working on more.

This week! The young human comes home for winter break and already has plans to lay on her Sistor for a good chunk of it. I think Amanda is excited to see her Sestra and hopes for the ultimate gift this season. Me? Trying to relax and giving myself the grace to see just how far this year has brought me. Breathe, grow, hope, believe, Love, sink into yourself to ground, and I'll be back next week :)
