Lots of treats

Good Morning and Happy Sunday! Another early one as Amanda and I enjoy the international football games. The sky is clear on the lake and the air is just the right amount of cool coming in through the window for good sleep last night. Sleep has been an elusive factor of late. Maybe fall will help.

What have we been up to this week? Serra had a Calc 2 exam and some extra down time with professors out at conferences. She is doing a great job of balancing class, research, work and taking care of herself. Once she finishes her tasks at work, she is allowed to do classwork and made liquid cultures for the yeast in her research. With getting laundry and homework done yesterday, she treated herself to poke for dinner.

Amanda had a better week with emails of two phone screenings for job interviews. One was this week and sounded like it went very well. Something we have not considered before is how much employers are also fighting AI, which might be why many of them have gone to phone screening first. It's hard to have a prerecorded script for questions on the fly over the phone. This was the first person that asked about her college design projects so hopefully that is a good sign. She has some research to do on the second company that she'll talk to tomorrow.

Crafts saw some time with the marudai as I would like to finish my curtain ties. I've lived here nine months now and its time. I also taught classes and have a pair of socks past the heel to finish. Rapunzel has been working on new pieces for the November artisan market.

This piece is now almost four feet long. The other half of the warp will be a mystery twill. I know the loom is tied up as a twill and I figure I'll simply come up with a sequence to walk. With that market only a few weeks away, I need to get cranking.

I'm still enjoying the morning walks.

It has been the best therapy for my ankle. The idea behind it was to train for the CSU 5k coming up, instead it has become more of a mediation in the mornings. I'm still doing the 5k in a couple of weeks, it just might not be as fast as I was originally planning. Seeing as how it is the first one in nine years, it will be a good baseline.

We also had a bit of fun with our local coffee shop. I'm sure you've heard of the pup cup. Did you know there's a whip stick?

We asked about the doggo in front of us getting his pup cup and I was offered one. I love whipped cream! Made the drive home with our coffee treat even more fun.

As for me, the week had its ups and downs. Hormones and emotions are a volatile blend that I do not recommend to anyone. Thankfully I am back to my usual self today. The Red Sox got knocked out of the postseason, so baseball is done for me. Amanda still gets to live and die by the Cubs and hockey starts up this week. I also got introduced to a new ice cream shop and next time I will definitely get 'The Shake". Relaxing for that brief moment of time instead of dwelling on things I can do nothing about was needed.

This week! More of the same with all of the things for Serra. Fingers crossed that Amanda gets some good news and the next interview. Me? Trying to relax and getting all of the things done. Breathe, let go, relax, Love, don't fight the current, and I'll be back next week :)
