Good Morning and Happy Sunday! You wouldn't think it was summer with the view outside the patio today. I think the sun is hiding and things are a bit cooler than last week. I rather like it. Serra might be ready to bake like a lizard but I'm not.
What did we do this week? Amanda had some fun with friends in her last full week in Rochester. I get the feeling she is ready to come back and see her people again as she did a test run on packing. Here's hoping it is a quick few days for her.
Serra is having a blast with the bestie as they went to a concert this week and dancing last night which they turned into a sleepover. We'll see how late she makes it back today. I'm glad she's having fun.
We also got out and about this last week. The Mets were in town, and we made it back to our mostly annual event.
The Rockies were wearing their new rainbow city connects which actually are better in person. Stanek received two gifts while he was pitching, a base running error by the Rockies and an amazing double play by the Mets' third baseman Baty. Lindor came in to knock in a few runs and the Mets won 4-2. Unusual for games we attend as our record over the years is still below 500. It was a great time.
Serra and I also made it up to Estes on Saturday for the Wool Market. We stopped in and said hi to Melina before she moves back to France, talked with Jenny spinning at the Cowgirl Yarn booth, and got harassed by Dylan before buying some yarn from Sarah at Little Squirrel. It's so much fun to have friends in the fiber world. Serra wanted to visit the animals, and we saw sheep, llamas and bunnies. She wanted to take a bunny home, and I think a llama wanted to keep me there as she came right up into my face to say hi. It was a lot of fun. I gathered some cards for product ideas for work and then got down to my purpose for attending.
Daedalus Spinning Wheels was there vending, and I have been eyeing the Sparrow model online for quite some time. It was also a purchase that I wanted to test out before indulging in. They had a wide-open booth set up with both a Martin and a Sparrow for spinners to try. I got to talking to Jen and tried both. When I saw the Cranberry color on the shelf, I knew I was done for.
My first electric wheel, meet Tony! Yes, after Marvel and Tony Stark. It felt appropriate with the color and that it is electric. It is extremely lightweight, was easy to set up and flies! Now all he needs is a silver travel case. They really set me up as the wheel comes with three bobbins and a spares kit with extra cord, bearings, and springs. Once I get an approved battery pack, I can spin with him anywhere.
As for me it's been a good week. Work is humming along smoothly; lessons are happening at Loopy even if classes are slow; and life feels pretty good. I keep feeling as though I am shedding skins and let go of some things that used to bind me up. Now, it is simply how life is, and I don't let it eat me up anymore. I don't know if it's the passage of time, or wisdom gained. I do know it is easier on my heart.
Next week! Hopefully the dancing queen isn't too sore and a quick late-night trip to the airport to collect the East Coaster. Me? All the bits in between and taking care of myself. Breathe, feel, glow, smile, share, Love, express yourself, and I'll be back next week :)
