Good Morning and Happy Sunday! It's a bright summer day so far here in the Fort. Fingers crossed that it doesn't get too hot just yet. I wouldn't mind a nice thunderstorm and have to remember that it is July! It's supposed to be hot. How did it get to be July already anyway?!

What have we been up to for the past couple of weeks? We took a trip! Just as we did in '19 to check out colleges for Amanda, we did the same for Serra as this is the summer before her Senior year. She spent many months researching various schools, taking into consideration so many factors that she needed a spreadsheet to organize them all. She narrowed the selection down to three schools that all happened to be in the same area.

Three days, three schools. She took her transcripts to two of them and was accepted on the spot by one university and wowed the head of the department with her scores at another. She asked him if she needed to retake the SAT and it took everything in him to maintain his composure to say no, your score is more than enough. I am glad we went on the trip because the school we thought was number one going out has fallen to number two.

We can't plan a trip without consulting the baseball schedule. How do you go somewhere and not see who is playing? Turns out, the Mets were playing the Phillies so of course we had to go!

It was a great trip. Serra was amazing in working through her thoughts on the different schools and gained some confidence with already being accepted by one of them.

This week was spent catching up on work, Serra preparing her college applications with Amanda's help and Amanda packing to go back out to school. She was hired as a Calculus tutor for the Bridge program. It has been a very full two weeks.

Work is seeing one issue head to the copy editor and another start to come in. Short week coming up with the holiday which while I appreciate the two extra days off, always makes the other three feel overloaded. I might do a little bit just to keep me sane.

Yes, I did take crafts on the trip and yes, I did work on them. A couple more Starflower hexagons and finished a round on the tatting. Did I overpack with crafts? Well, yeah of course I did!

As for me, emotions have been all over the place. Proud of Serra for the progress she has made over the past couple of years. Thinking too far ahead into next year with some finance changes. Not being able to relax with anything all make for a very tightly wound person. I was already looking at July 1 as a reset, a chance to reestablish patterns that I have gotten out of lately with everything going on. Then I was reminded of what July 1 was on my personal calendar and it feels even more appropriate. As I was driving back from the airport for the second time last week, I realized that with everything I want to do in life that I'm not very good at stopping and seeing how far I have come in the past five years. Something I should probably consider and give myself a little credit for. The next couple of years are going to be transition ones and I am constantly reminded that Rome wasn't built in a day.

Next week! A couple of extra days to getting started on me with, college essay for Serra to write, and students for Amanda to teach. Breathe, be, honor the moment, relax, Love, take care of YOU and I'll be back next week :)
