Slide into fall

Good Morning and Happy Sunday! We might finally be sliding into fall in my little corner of the Fort. The nights are cooler and my dear tree out front is starting to thin. The streetlight shines a little brighter into the window each night making it time to close the valance curtain for sleep.
What did we do with the short week? Things so far sound pretty quiet for Amanda. Her main concern is getting the graduate committee to sign off on one of her classes so that it counts for her degree. Trouble is, they don't meet to discuss this kind of thing until the 23rd. Fingers crossed it all goes through. Either grad school is easier than we thought it would be or she received some rather rigorous study at RPI. I guess we will see over the coming weeks.
Serra is settling in so well at Cedar Crest! She has found a group of friends that she calls 'the gang'. What are their favorite activities? Staying up late, eating froyo and pho, and dyeing their hair. It was a light week for classes as the short week canceled some of the labs. She had an exciting Friday with her roommate needing medical attention and spending the evening in the hospital. Everything is good and she has been catching up on sleep this weekend.
A short week makes for short work! Or rather just a shorter amount of time to get things done in. It was a random catch-up week for me after being out on the photo shoot with more of the same for this week.
Crafting was busy! I have been making time to weave, spin and knit. I even did some fleece washing yesterday. I finished another color on the breakfast spin.
Next will be pulling it off the spindle to ply. Here's the next color coming up.
I also finished another skein of hexies! Time to pull out another color. I believe I have four skeins to go. After that, a lot of blocking and ends to weave in!
I was asked this week if I plan to bake anymore with it just being me in the house and I really didn't have an answer. I was tempted to make croissants over the long weekend and didn't. Baking is still something I enjoy, it's simply a matter of figuring out smaller quantities. I always have bananas in the freezer since they are never eaten fast enough, so I thought why not banana bread?
Half a recipe fills two mini tins just right! I forgot the walnuts when I went shopping so these got pecans. The girls don't like nuts, so it has been a spell since I made it this way. Considering most of one of these is gone, I would say this was a good experiment. My main bread baking book says that a full loaf recipe will make four minis. I have a feeling mini metal tins are going to be a future purchase considering I know how to freeze and proof dough ;)
I also made it back to the gym!
It's been a long time coming in my mind. I hope to do it better this time around.
As for me, I feel good. Some have been concerned about me adjusting to this solo time and so far, so good. Being out for work, going to Loopy to teach, getting back to the gym have kept me from becoming a hermit. The biggest change has been having more time or at least my perception of things makes me feel like I have more time each day. I hope that this will help with getting more things done but also with learning to relax, a battle that is still being fought as I don't know how. Maybe I relax differently than others. Who knows? I do know that I feel good about a lot of things right now.
Next week! The girls get to dig into their studies as the semester truly gets started. Lots of little things for me, work, gym, creating, and classes to teach. Today, one of the greatest sports inventions is back! "Seven hours of commercial free football starts now!" Breathe, glow, dance, Love, expand and grow, and I'll be back next week :)
