Good Morning and Happy Sunday! The sun beat me today being out of bed before I was. I have been giving myself a bit more rest of late with the craziness of the time of year and all of the various things going on.
What have we been up to this week? Serra finished her finals and made it back, even with the intense wind storms the state was having on Wednesday. As we were following her flight online, we knew as long as she made it past Kansas City she would make it to Colorado. The late evening flight turned into early morning by the time we made it back and it made for a very tired Thursday for all of us. Serra of course decided that sleep is silly and ran off with her bestie for a 'sleepover'. I thinking today is going to be a lot of catch up on sleep for her.
Amanda is hanging in on the job hunt. Yet another interview with the same company on Monday. Even the hiring manager she is working with is annoyed with the rate they are moving on her. Hopefully only a couple more hoops to jump and she will receive an offer. In the meantime, hockey and football have been dominating her time with a shootout loss from the Islanders yesterday and the intense overtime win from the Chicago Bears last night. If both Denver and Chicago make the Super Bowl, there will be a lot of cardiac problems that Sunday!
Crafts saw a bit of a setback on Serra's sweater. The sleeves are WAY too big. Not to worry, I marked where they should be, picked up stitches and frogged back on the first one. It will be a good hands busy project during the holiday. I'm also working on a new sample for a lace class in April for The Loopy Ewe. Spring classes are scheduled, and January is already hopping! So grateful for the community there. I have also been spinning. The bundle of 12 colors now has an idea!

Quite a range of colors! I have grouped them into sets of 3 and will ply those groups together. So far, I have one set spun and resting before plying and the first of the second group started.

The idea came from an article and project in Spin Off Spring 2025 from Amanda Buckley. She took three coordinating colors, spun singles and plied them together for a marled effect. We'll see what I do with the yarn once it is finished.
As for me, it was a busy and good week. I have been trying to rest my physical body more than usual. All of my instincts are drawing inward with the season. It is the Winter Solstice, and the world will soon be shifting back to the light. For those of us powered by the sun, it is a beautiful thing! Before that return, there is this space of darkness, of drawing back into the soil, quiet preparation for the rebirth of spring. I am feeling that more than ever before and am trying to honor it. Many things I've read lately state that not only is 2025 a snake year and a shedding of skins but also that it is the end of a nine-year cycle. I have done a lot of shedding this year physically and mentally. I know where I was nine years ago and how 2017 was scary but also invigorating. I have a feeling this need to draw inward, and rest right now is in anticipation of a fast start to 2026.
Plans for this week? Time together for the holiday, travel plans to make for getting back to college, a good interview, and a finished sweater. Breathe, rest, retreat, Love, honor the light within and I'll be back next week :)
