The simplicity of routine

Good Morning and Happy Sunday! I love how cool it is in my little corner of the Fort at this time of day. Now, we just need the afternoons to join the party! I am more than ready for long sleeves and cuddly blankets. Mother Nature might have other plans.
What did we do this week? Classes are plugging along for the girls, and they are wondering when things are going to get difficult. Amanda did finally get some good feedback on their project from the director so hopefully that relationship can improve. Yes, she didn't go to UR, she does know her stuff.
A little bit of homesick caught up to Serra this week. Being praised for things that come naturally to her has always been difficult. A good pep talk and some quiet time to herself have her back in stride. I'm proud of her for taking care of herself in those ways. Maybe it's time for her to go hunt down the department head and say 'teach me' to him.
More randomness for work this week. I enjoy the variety and getting to be a part of several different things and think I am doing better with the ebb and flow of each moving part.
Lots of craft this week as I got in time weaving, spinning, and knitting.
Flynn and I are on to the second scarf of the warp.
Most times I do a small portion of plain weave to begin and end each piece. I got into such a rhythm that I decided to stick with it. Hopefully I won't get bored and want to throw some pattern in it. Technically it is not a true plain weave as the threading has multiple spots where odd or even threads are next to each other. I still like it.
I am down to the last batt of the Tour de Fleece spin.
After I have all five complete, it will be time to ply! Thankfully my ankle has progressed to treadling and I will be able to handle it soon.
July's Little Squirrel socks are growing.
I tried Cat Bordhi's Sweet Tomato method, and it was just not working out for me. This is a slight modification from a two at a time book and I'm happy with it. Hopefully they will fit Serra when I am done.
It is also the time of year that I go planner crazy. Both of my orders arrived this week.
I use Agendio for my work planner. I love being able to put pages in the order that works best for me. And yes, I have different colored pens for each issue!
Hobonichi updates their website with the next year's products on September 1st and I always begin stalking them about a week before that.
I got a little crazy this year. Some new lined notebooks as I love their paper and then the usuals, a small Weeks that has become my workout journal and two A5 Cousins. One for journaling every day and one as a task tracker and inspiration notebook. The little freebie this year was mini notebooks, so it was more of a haul than usual. The crazy thing I did this year was give into the five-year version.
They came out with them initially two years ago and I wasn't sure about it. Also, a friend I discussed them with was wondering about looking back on it and feeling like you haven't done enough. Totally valid thinking. I don't quite know exactly how I'm going to use it yet. I turn fifty next year, and I thought it might be an interesting tool.
As for me, the week held some big bumps mentally and physically that I think I am through. The ankle is doing better even though I still have to remind myself to slow down when I am out running errands. Walking half a mile a day at the gym has helped tremendously with its endurance and flexibility. Being back there has been its own kind of therapy that helped break some long-held traumas this week. Life feels good and I'm working to keep it moving that way.
Next week! Silly to say more of the same but that is exactly what is coming. Meetings and classes for Amanda, classes, gym time and movies for Serra. Appointments, work, teaching and craft for me. Wish the Rammies would have won last night, and I will be staying in today as my Polamalu jersey would not be appreciated with the Steelers playing the Broncos today. Breathe, rest, stretch, Love, soak in the moment, and I'll be back next week :)
