Good Morning and Happy Sunday! While the hillside looks a little bleak with the browns of fall, the sky is a happy blue with streaks of white and grey clouds. The air started turning crisp and cool this past Thursday signaling the change in the season. My Pashmina blanket shawl has been released from its safe summer haven and Amanda laughs at me for wrapping up in the evenings.
What have we been up to this week? Serra had her usual array of classes, labs, research, work and exams to keep up on. She also went shopping to prepare for the holiday week as the dining hall closes up shop. While she has been having a great time with friends, I think she is also looking forward to a bit of quiet time to herself. She plans to make her favorite potato and kale soup and got a good number of treats as well. It sounds like she plans to play lots of Minecraft and knowing her, getting lots of sleep.
Amanda has taken it a little easier on the job search of late, simply because there are truly only three working weeks left to the year. We don't know that much is going to take place. She does have yet another call with the same company that she has been in touch with the last seven weeks. Fingers crossed they decide to bring her in for more. What else did my lovely humans do? They conspired to surprise me with birthday gifts! It was a welcomed treat of self-care bath items and chocolate.
Looking back on the week, I am amazed at how much took place and at how relaxed it was at the same time. Two days were spent at a photo shoot, and I took my birthday off because that's what everyone should do. The last two days were busy catching up with being out, but I still got most everything done and breathed through it all. On a recommendation, Amanda and I dove into Severance and unintentionally cannonballed the first season. Wow! It is an amazing concept, completely draws you in and then throws absolutely wild curveballs. Exactly the type of television show I enjoy and why I have such a difficult time finding good ones to watch.
I also got a chunk of crafting done. Serra's second sleeve is now to the cuff. I'll finish that and confirm the color for the hood with her. I should be able to finish it for her to take back to college after the winter break.

I finished plying the breakfast spin.

I still have no idea what I will do with my little rainbow, but I am enjoying the bite sized bundles of fiber.

The silk hankie spin is also complete.

I wound the tiny amount into a center pull ball and plied it as well. I wonder what the final spinning specs on it will be. It's not bad for my first time spinning from hankies.
Rumple is on the second bobbin of the Haunui/Silk spin. I don't know why spinning wheel makers claim bobbins will hold a specific amount of fiber because my skeins always need more room! Thankfully I paid attention to this one and split it close to even amounts. I will probably still tie the two ends together when I wind it into a skein.
The big thing coming up this week is the Fort Collins Holiday Artisan Market! I will be at the Fort Collins Senior Center Friday November 28 and Saturday November 29 from 10 am-4 pm with various items and Flynn for demonstrating. Fingers crossed it goes well.
As for me, this week was pretty damn perfect. I felt like I was productive and yet also relaxed. Had time with the humans and time for my birthday that was more than enough. Time truly is the best gift of all, and this the big one of fifty. Crazy that society thinks it is the beginning of the end when I feel like I'm finally hitting my stride. Trick now is to keep building the habits, doing the little things every day that are just the right amount to create a strong foundation to extend far into the future. Don't fret about wanting more time, take the steps now to create more time later on. It doesn't take motivation, it takes routine.
Next week! A lazy one for Serra as many professors are not really holding classes Monday and Tuesday, so she'll have plenty of rest before the two-week sprint to the end of the semester. Diamond dots, hockey and hopefully a good phone call on Monday for Amanda. For me? A couple days work, some show prep and a couple days rest and taking care of me in and around all of it. Breathe, smile, glow, Love, find yourself where you are, and I'll be back next week :)
