A good place

Good Morning and Happy Sunday! The air is crisp and the sky is bright outside the patio today as I slept in a little later than usual. I guess that’s what happens when you turn off the weekend alarm. My body decided that extra time was needed; or was just way too comfortable to change the situation. Used to I would get upset about sleeping ten hours, considering how good it feels this morning, I’m not going to.

What were we up to this week? Serra has been doing more of the usual. Keeping cell cultures alive, taking care of her yeasties, class and work. She had another mol gen exam this week that sounds like it went good. The professor gave Serra a mini panic attack as the multiple choice results were released without the short answer portion. Thinking you got a 44/90 on an exam will freak anyone out! Thankfully the multiple choice is only out of 46 instead of 90 so she is on track for a great score. The roomie is doing better after the messy breakup back in October. Another friend visited from New Jersey and they celebrated the roomie’s birthday with a trip to Dave and Buster’s. I have a feeling Serra will be sleeping a good portion of the day to catch up and be ready to dive into another week. I’m so glad she is having a great semester.

Amanda spent a couple more days in Wisconsin training. Monday and Tuesday were applying what they learned last week into troubleshooting problems on the anesthesia machines. She flew back to Jersey early Wednesday, had meetings, spent a day with her mentor on site, and ordered more parts for her tool kit. The equipment dude has got to be tired of her by now. It’s always scary when your team lead calls you late on a Friday afternoon, but thankfully Kirk had good news for her. Amanda has completed her Mother and Infant Care (MIC) training and has been made lead on a project. She will be organizing and completing replacement of some parts on incubators for an entire hospital network. Not too bad for being four months into the position. She is hoping for more information on it next week.

Crafts were limited this week as time was filled by other things. Two long days at a photo shoot and most of Friday was spent teaching. I am still weaving, spinning and knitting on all my different projects. Maybe soon I’ll get a bout of finishitis and get some things done. I did get the schedule for classes into Loopy this week so hopefully it will be online soon. We’ve added a couple of lace classes, a new sweater class and a steeking class that I have had multiple requests for. Hopefully they will be popular. I forgot how crazy old town is when I went to The Cupboard for a couple of new spinning dishes on Saturday, so many people! The small, shallow dishes for wasabi are perfect for support spindles. I also went to the movies and saw Ramayana: Rise of a Legend. It’s not often that I sit for 3+ hours without a project in my hands. It was a blast, trouble is it was only part I! I have to wait a year for part 2 to come out. It did remind me of my love for epic foreign films as it was 3D and in Hindi.

As for me, the week had some rough spots in the middle but was great on each end. A bit of blue and feeling down on myself made for a pretty blue stretch. I can’t let things I can’t control get below the surface; they don’t belong there. I am worthy and capable regardless of whether or not anyone else sees it. I simply have to believe it for myself. Some rest and regulation was extremely welcomed and has me feeling more me now. The work now is to keep this feeling and mindset going forward. The little steps add up.

Next week! More of the same for all three of us. Traveling about on repairs for Amanda along with learning more about her new project. Fourteen hour days for Serra filled with cultures, learning and fun with the bestie. Me? The week is almost a carbon copy with time for the lovely bestie, another photo shoot and a lesson and class to teach on Friday. Breathe, smile, relish, Love, find what brings you back to yourself, and I’ll be back next week :)
