Thank goodness, it's May
Good Morning and Happy Sunday! The calendar has turned to May and I'm not sorry to say goodbye to April. It was a rather emotional month. The sun is already shining bright outside and lake traffic is early this morning, just as I am. Thankfully it was after a solid night's sleep instead of waking from a terrible nightmare. Here's to a good day of rest.
What have we been up to this week? Classes ended for Serra on Monday and she ate a ton of bacon at the Midnight Breakfast celebration. It is a semester tradition at her college that I absolutely adore. She has spent the week studying for finals and hanging with friends. She took one exam on Friday and has two more on Tuesday. Her flight back is Thursday and will be a late night for us. It will be good to see her again.
Amanda had a stressful but promising week. After panicking from an email that she was told would be sent on Monday, she contacted the person and had a gauntlet of interview sessions on Thursday, all for one position. She believes they went well and should hear from the hiring manager soon. All of the fingers and toes are crossed big for this one. The massively heightened adrenaline level for both of us had us wiped Thursday afternoon and I think it is still bleeding off. There's nothing to do but wait. Ever see The Princess Bride? Amanda is a cross between Inigo and Vizzini at the moment. We've also been watching hockey and not doing a very good job of picking teams to cheer for.
It was a quiet week with some things for me, as I did not have any classes or lessons. Craft time was spent at the loom, spinning, knitting, and blanketing. The current set of scarves is almost done on Rapunzel. Next step is to decide if I'm going to weave another dyed warp from last summer, (gods I'm slow!), or measure up some tiny silk. Tony and I have been having fun with some black Merino to go with the marled yarns.
Knitting has been on a pair of socks, which I always seem to have going, and a lace shrug. The Starflower blanket takes a lot more time to get around with adding more hexies. This one is about three quarters there and then it will be time to fill in the corners to make it rectangular. I'm also working on a new website and hope to have things looking a little different here next week.
What a month! April was far more stressful of a month than I've had in quite a while. Thing is it wasn't really one singular thing rather a continual building of several things over the past months. At the time, it felt as if there was no end in sight. I don't know if the end is close now or not. I do know May has already felt that stress level breaking and running off, almost like a spring thaw. It will be a while for true balance to be restored but just as the spring brings renewal and fresh starts, I'm really hoping we have some of those in our near future. Breathe, do the houseplanty things, hope, believe, Love, better days are coming, and I'll be back next week :)
