A better fit

Good Morning and Happy Sunday! The sky is a brilliant cloud-streaked blue today through my patio door. Temperatures are finally falling and getting that crisp autumn feeling. Last night was just chilly enough to be cozy and I slept like a rock. It felt absolutely glorious and I could probably still be there if not for having things to do along with wanting fresh baked English Muffins that are currently rising on the counter.

What did we do this week? Amanda finally got to meet her team lead, mentor and other engineers from Alabama in real life and go out in the field. She was at Mount Sinai hospital helping them catch up on some much needed maintenance on machines. Thank goodness for a company car as she put 300 miles on the one she’s driving with going back and forth into the city. We figured out yesterday that she and the manager are the only women on the team. She flies back to Wisconsin tonight for another week of focused training.

Serra is in her first round of exams with taking Animal Ecology on Friday and Molecular Genetics tomorrow. She feels good about the eco exam as the professor followed what was given in the study guide! You would think that would be normal, instead it is a rarity. Mol Gen lab continues to be a treat with Serra spending an extra three hours outside of lab and class time to complete the work. Eco lab on the other hand has been joyous time in the sun. This week was learning about population density by counting violets in a particular area on campus.

Crafts have seen time teaching knitting, working on Serra’s socks that are finally to the ribbing, a touch of spinning, and knitting for work. I have some blocking to do to be ready for another photo shoot tomorrow. I’ve been enjoying some down time with reading again even if it is an old favorite. Only 200 more pages to go before I need to find the next one. Considering another reread that I haven’t done for a very long time. I think it’s due.

As for me, this week disappeared very quickly. I had to remind myself that today is Sunday because it really should only be Thursday with my current time sense. Some much-needed time Tuesday gave me my mojo back and I feel like my skin fits again. It’s time to embrace this space and become more of me.

Next week! Fingers crossed for no travel disruptions for Amanda as she ventures off again. Hopefully a more balanced Mol Gen lab for Serra amongst all of the other things she has going with research, work and other classes. Me? A bit of everything with work, crafts, reading and rest. Breathe, release, rebuild, Love, remember that Rome took far longer than a day, and I’ll be back next week :)
