Settling in
Good Morning and Happy Sunday! I think fall might truly be here today. The air is crisp out on the patio this morning and there’s a chill in the air. Maybe all we needed was the equinox this last week to herald fall’s arrival. Friday was like waking up in Scotland with the layer of fog and mist hanging over the lake.
The sunflowers are bright this fall.
What did we do this week? Serra is still waiting to hear about her Ecology exam score. Thankfully it followed the study guide and the professor is rather laid back for that class. I am crazy proud of her for her excellent score on the Mol Gen exam! 102 is pretty damn amazing. There’s no surprise really when she has been studying genetics since seventh grade. It just goes to show that genetics and DNA research is where her heart truly lies. I’m so glad she found Professor Blobface and is embracing this path. She and her friends are already thinking about some plans for the extra two days off for fall break that is coming in a few weeks.
Amanda spent another week in Wisconsin training. This time, she learned about the incubators that GE services. She has some words for the initial design engineers and they were designed for an easy assembly and not an easy repair. Maybe when upgrade time comes, she can use her design background to share some suggestions on it. It sounds like she is just enough inland that the storm this weekend has not affected her area. We’ll see whether or not anyone from the team will be headed to the island this week with the state of emergency and flooding in the area.
Time with craft this week was spent spinning, knitting and weaving. I got back to Rapunzel and started the second scarf of the Blue Steel colorway.
I always love a twill.
This is one of those instances where I had to remind myself to keep it simple. Previous patterns I was thinking about using were competing too much with the stripes. Sometimes a basic twill is all you need.

I think they will be somewhere around knee length on her skinny legs. To make thigh highs like Serra really wants, is going to take more yarn. Darn! Another trip to Loopy in my future. I think there’s still some Adult Swim available or I have two skeins of Raspberry Twist in the stash.

Berry Navy has just the right feel for summer’s end with the last of the season’s berries all gathering together on a scoop of ice cream.
As for me, my time sense is much improved, and the week didn’t disappear like the last one. I am still terrible at cooking for one, and my baking skills are dangerous to the scale. Some rest and play helped me reconnect with myself and I finally feel at a reasonable speed again. If anything, I might be going slower than usual. I’m feeling the need to pace myself and savor the moments. Maybe it’s the changing of the season, maybe it’s the feeling of settling into my skin again, I don’t know. I do know that slowing down and restarting feels right. So that’s what I’m going to do. Life is to be enjoyed, not just existed through.
Next week! A quieter one all around for the three of us. Routine may sometimes sound boring, however it is in the little things we do every day that an empire is built. Breathe, dream, savor, Love, sink into the moments, and I’ll be back next week :)
