A full week

Good Morning and Happy Sunday! The sun beat me out of bed today as a late night and rough sleep kept me snuggled into the covers. I’m still trying to wake up a bit. Fall is trying to take hold and while temperatures are still warmer than they should be the trees are getting in on the change.

Japanese maples are my favorite!

What were we up to this week? Amanda spent three more days in the Bronx working with the team on ventilators. The drive is not her favorite, but job is which is a wonderful thing. She will be in Wisconsin again for training at the end of the month. How does a baseball fan that hates the Brewers end up back in Milwaukee three separate times and each time the team is out of town and this last time it’s the WORLD SERIES?! I have no idea. Too bad the timing is off and I’m sure ticket prices would be insane. It still would be a wild experience. Instead, she decided to drive to Western NY Friday night to see friends for the weekend.

Serra has had a short week classwise with Fall break Monday and Tuesday. She also did not have Eco lab on Wednesday to keep the sessions on the same schedule. I hope her roomie is doing better after a breakup and is figuring out her priorities which should be school. Besides, at only twenty years old, there’s plenty more time in life to experience heartache. For once, I’m glad of Serra’s independence and desire to do it all for herself. She told me this week that if you can’t look at yourself you still won’t be able to with someone beside you. Such emotional wisdom from someone so young. Serra’s big treat today is a visit from Amanda! Allentown is on one of the routes you can take back to Jersey. They are going to have lunch and do some grocery shopping. I’m so glad they are close enough to do this, both geographically and as sisters.

Crafts as usual have been all over the place. I taught sock class, had a lesson with my two delightful students and started a sweater session. One work project is 80% complete, and I spent some good time on the next one. The spinning wheels are out and the bobbin lace pillow is set up as I want to double check an upcoming pattern. Two sweaters are in the works and with all the time at the yarn shop, I picked up the October sock set!

Spooky yarn!

Purple People Eater is the October offering from Little Squirrel and I love it. The skein is full of purples, oranges and greens. I’m wondering how it would go with the last two years of October yarns; it could make for an interesting project.

I also spent time out lunching and visiting with my lovely Rebekah! It has been far too long since we got to see each other in person. Another blast from the past just happened to pop into the coffee shop we were at, and it was good to see Deb for a spell as well. Rebekah and I are cooking up something that we hope will be wonderful for both of us. We talked so much about our plans that we didn’t have time to catch up on the personal stuff so I hope to do that soon.

As for me, it’s hard to believe Sunday was only a week ago as it has been a very full one. Socializing, teaching, working, and believe it or not resting too, I’ve gotten better at it. Granted it doesn’t help the scale move which got to me this week, but it does help the mind. I may have had a rough night but I’m feeling good about things right now.

Next week! More of the same for all three of us. I hope the humans have a wonderful visit today and get to talk to both of them this evening. We’ve got our holiday plans set which is only two months away. I have a feeling the end of 2026 is going to fly very quickly. It’s time to make every moment count. Breathe, dream, hope, Love, trust in the good things coming, and I’ll be back next week :)
