Back to self

Good Morning and Happy Sunday! The sun is sleepy this morning and I’m up before he is. The air is crisp outside and feels like fall. The afternoons are confused and still think it is August. Hopefully we’ll get to wear long sleeves and cozy sweaters at some point.

Today’s Sunrise

What have we been up to this week? Serra had another round of exams in Ecology and Molecular Genetics. She feels confident about the eco as the professor follows the study guide that is supplied. Serra is not as confident about mol gen but with as engrained as DNA is in her mind, I bet it went great. She has been enjoying the peace and quiet with the roomie gone and get a couple extra days off with it being Fall Break Monday and Tuesday. The local bestie Jess will be coming over Monday for a ‘sleepover’ with Serra and the campus bestie Maya. I hope they have a great time.

Amanda was all over the place this week spending three days in the Bronx and a day at the Jersey warehouse. The drive out there is insane and I’m so glad she has a company car with the amount of miles she’s logging. The team has been great with including her and answering questions. They did maintenance on a collection of ventilators at the warehouse and are giving her the basic tasks. She also treated herself to the movies with going to Spider-man: Brand New Day.

Crafts have been all over the place including the living room! I haven’t been putting my toys away and there is a freshy wound pile of yarn, a bobbin lace pillow with prepared bobbins ready to start, Susan came out of the closet for a work project, and two spinning wheels are active. Not to mention the usual piles of fluff, spindles and knitting needles that usually adorn my space. Just be careful if you come over and try to sit down. Serra’s socks finally made it to PA!

Sockies!

According to UPS tracking, the package arrived on Monday. Serra gets emails when packages are received on campus and didn’t this week. Instead, she popped over to the mailroom on Friday to ask about it. Thankfully the woman recognized her and found it. Seems the box didn’t get scanned into the system. Serra loves the fit and the neons from Little Squirrel so much so that I picked up another set of Adult Swim to make a set of thigh highs.

My PieceWork editor loved my Starflower blanket so much that she asked me to write a web post about it. You can find it here. Work has let up in some areas and gotten more piled on in others. I didn’t realize how stressful the lack of time at photo shoots was until I got the news that we are adding more days for the coming year. Talk about a load off, I’m grateful for it.

As for me, it’s been a good week. Time flowed weird as it usual does with some days being longer than expected and other being far too short. I’m getting better at filling it in the evenings and not getting fussy or bored. Whenever you go through a stressful situation, be it good or bad, you never realize the amount of time needed to recover from that high intensity. I thought it would be quick and I was so wrong. Finally, now seven weeks later, I’m feeling back to myself. It feels good and it’s time to start building again.

Next week! No idea yet where Amanda gets to go on Monday. Hopefully the drive won’t be ridiculous. More rest and bestie time for Serra, I hope they have a blast. Me? More craft, a long overdue visit with a bestie to reconnect and strategize for next year. Breathe, release, ground, Love, find your center, and I’ll be back next week :)
