An unexpected yet welcomed delay
Good Morning and Happy Sunday! Summer’s fiery temperatures have finally calmed down, and cool breezes are now coming in through the open window and patio door. We’ve even had some rain this week which has been an absolute joy. Nothing like the storms in the Midwest, but I’ll take what I can get.
What have we been up to the last two weeks? It has been an absolute whirlwind with an unexpected delay thrown into the mix. Amanda finally landed a job, and it was time to get her settled in a new space. She packed up as much as she could in her three suitcases, one of Serra’s and one of mine and we headed off to the NY/NJ area.
That’s a lot of bags!
With carry-ons and backpacks we had ten bags in all! The flight to Laguardia was calm and uneventful and shuttle drivers on both ends were amazing handling all of this baggage. We managed to stuff it all into a rental car and headed off to New Jersey, or at least we thought we were. Somewhere along the way we got turned around and took a detour through Manhattan. You think what you see in the movies is Hollywood style, until you actually witness it yourself. We managed to get back on the correct path and made it New Jersey with minutes to spare before the closing of the apartment rental office. With keys in hand, we checked out Amanda’s new digs and dropped off most of the baggage. The next couple of days were a flurry of activity buying things and receiving packages of items we bought beforehand, including a bed.
The Serra approved living room rug
We said our long tearful goodbyes Friday night as Serra and I had an early morning flight to catch back to Colorado Saturday morning. Little did I know that our trip would be extended. Hearing your phone bing with a text at 230 am is never a good thing and this just happened to be Delta canceling our flight back. After rebooking us through Newark and Atlanta on Sunday evening, we went back to sleep till a decent hour to text Amanda and let her know that she was stuck with us for a little bit longer. In the end, it worked out well and we helped Amanda with a few more things at her new place.
Assembly is much easier with extra hands
The extra time served us well and Amanda got us to Newark airport with no problems. After two flights, a ninety-minute delay in Atlanta, and a bit of a drive from the airport, Serra and I were back at 4 am Monday morning. Amanda was finally contacted by her recently promoted manager and has spent the week in online trainings, meetings, and onboarding with HR. She is slowly receiving her needed equipment including uniform shirts.
Look out world, here she comes!
This week has moved a bit slower for Serra and I with recovering from head colds caught on our travels. She did help me prepare for the photo shoot I spent two groggy days at this week.
First star on the left, and straight on til morning
Crafts the last couple of weeks have been almost non-existent as you can imagine. I did knit a bit on Serra’s socks on the plane and finished a PieceWork project you can see here.
As for me, wow, what can I say. It has been a very full two weeks of seeing my daughters in action and supporting them the best I can through it all. We had a blast getting lost, seeing new sights and spending time together. I love getting to see them spread their wings and embrace life.
This week! Another trip, this time Serra heads back to college. Her week will be filled with bestie time, laundry, and packing. I am crossing my fingers that our trip to PA will be a little less eventful than the one we just returned from. Next week each of us will be flying solo again in our own spaces staying connected via text and facetime. I knew it was coming; I simply didn’t expect it all to happen in a matter of weeks. Breathe, believe, trust, soar, Love, embrace the new adventures, and I’ll be back next week :)
