A bit of this and that

Good Morning and Happy Sunday Internetland! I wanted to get up and actually use the time change well but instead of course slept in. Here's hoping the week is more productive than just extra rest. How did the week go? Instead of going to Colorado Springs we stayed in during the snowstorm that actually did come, I was rather doubtful after the sunny afternoon we had on Monday. Word came down from the Colorado Bandmasters Association on Saturday that regional competition scores would hold for State making Fossil Ridge back to back champions. Amanda's goal was to win regionals just in case something like this happened but it still feels a little weird. Now I'm actually glad for the Bands...

Mother Nature and step three

Good Morning and Happy Sunday Internetland! Not NEARLY as snowy of a morning as I was expecting to wake up to and I have to admit I'm disappointed right now. Forecasters were going nuts over this storm last week and there's barely a dusting on my car. Two jobs you'll always get paid for no matter how often you're wrong: weather forecasting and politics. On to the week that was, the week that should have been and the week that will be. This past week was a complete roller coaster of emotion. There was a really good day where my emotions were soaring high, a day that I need to remember when things don't look that great. Then there was...

Band, band and more band....along with step two

Good Morning and Happy Sunday Internetland! It's quiet in my little corner of the Fort as everyone is sleeping off this past week. Not much craft beyond Daddy's afghan and my project but we have been busy regardless. So how did we spend the week? With lots and lots of band. This past week was Regionals. Every band in the state that wants to attend the State competition has to participate in a regional event to qualify. In the 5A division the top 20 bands at regionals qualify for the State competition. Monday was the Northern Regional that Fossil goes to. They scored an 89.65 which not only won the event but has placed them highest in the state. What...

Watercolor Tapestry step one and go time

Good Morning and Happy Sunday Internetland! It's a proper fall morning here in my corner of the Fort after our taste of winter last week. October is cruising along and it's hard to believe that Marching Band regionals are tomorrow already.  It's been a quiet week from a production standpoint with Daddy here but I am making progress on the afghan that he brought for me to repair. I crocheted him one many years ago and some of the squares were coming apart and seams making holes. This last week I took it all apart, sorted and repaired the squares that I could and am now in the process of sewing it all back together. Many thanks to Pockethouse for...

A bit of fun and a big finish!

Good Morning and Happy Sunday Internetland! Fall is starting to settle into my little corner of the Fort with some cooler temperatures...at night at least. School and activities will be in full swing next week with the addition of Science Olympiad practices. So what have I been up to during the last two weeks? Yes I know I missed last Sunday as I was on a deadline to finish. Last Saturday was Fossil's first competition of the season! The Legacy Marching Band Festival is one of my favorite events to go to during the season, even if I get sunburnt with sunscreen. The shows are still in their new coltish stages and bands of all different sizes are there. I...
