Music and new colors

Good Morning and Happy Sunday! My little corner of the Fort is quiet this morning with the girls still abed and even me sleeping in. I guess when sleep is short and rough throughout the week I make up for it on the weekends. What did we do with our first week of December? It was busy on the music front for Serra with her holiday concert and performing at the Timnath Tree Lighting Festival Friday evening. This was our first time attending one and it was fun to get out and do something new.  On the craft front I've been weaving. Rapunzel and I finally got the fine silk detangled, tied on and started. These are going to be...

Lots of white stuff, a finish and pacing

Good Morning and Happy Sunday! Does the calendar really say December already?! Guess it's time to get on the ball on some things. So what happened in my little corner of the Fort this last week? In one word: Snow. Even the evergreens across the street didn't like how heavy the white stuff was. Official reports said that we got 15" but I think there was closer to 20" here. Thankfully we did not have plans to go anywhere and were stocked up on chili supplies and snacks. What do you do when the weather does this? Simple: movies and knitting. We watched The Hobbit trilogy and I finished my Pashmina project. What started out as a way to use...

Too early on the Holidays and being in the moment

Good Morning and Happy Sunday everyone! Temperatures in my little corner of the Fort have gone back to fall which I appreciate, especially considering how early everyone is decorating for Christmas this year. Trees and light already people? Far too early for me especially considering we haven't past my November birthday yet. So what to talk about this week? Flynn is strung up ready to work on more mug rugs for the Holiday Market in December. I'm doing an all over pattern instead of motif style design this time around and I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. Rapunzel and I have been getting her dressed with silk. Here's measuring it out on the warping board. This is...

Show prep and the end of the season

Good Morning and Happy Sunday! I don't know about anyone else but this week has flown by. Maybe it's the time change and the additional evening dark that I'm not used to yet. Six in the evening feels like nine and I miss seeing the sunrise. So what did I do with this week that disappeared when I wasn't looking? Been doing a lot of tatting to get ready for the Holiday Market with Makerfolk on December 21st. I figure that if I make at least one pair a day I will have a good selection by then. Rapunzel and I busted out a new scarf. I measured the silk for this with a different color plan in mind but...

A bit of this and that

Good Morning and Happy Sunday Internetland! I wanted to get up and actually use the time change well but instead of course slept in. Here's hoping the week is more productive than just extra rest. How did the week go? Instead of going to Colorado Springs we stayed in during the snowstorm that actually did come, I was rather doubtful after the sunny afternoon we had on Monday. Word came down from the Colorado Bandmasters Association on Saturday that regional competition scores would hold for State making Fossil Ridge back to back champions. Amanda's goal was to win regionals just in case something like this happened but it still feels a little weird. Now I'm actually glad for the Bands...
