Good Morning and Happy Sunday Internetland! Little late with talking today as I slept in but considering Sunday is the only day that happens and I normally get up at 4, 7:30 isn't the end of the world. Maybe I'll just blame it on the cooler temperatures and a new fluffy throw pillow. Amanda is sleeping off a 14 hour day of Marching Band yesterday and Serra is recovering from ingrown toenail surgery so I see the morning being quiet. Lots of finishing was happening this week and all four of my regular looms are naked. Yes people rampant nudity is happening here. I'm being silly, when you put a project on a loom it is called "dressing the loom"...
Good Morning and Happy Sunday everyone! We have survived the first week of school and routine is coming back. Granted we're still not very excited about the later start times for high school but I guess we have to roll with it. What did I do last week with the neighborhood eerily silent with all the kids back in school? New yarn colors are done! They are posted in the shop under each of their bases, Hope, Faith, Promise and Trust. Also the knots came up on the looms! I tend to get excited when I see the knots because it means the project is almost done. Most times it also makes me weave faster! The black silk did get...
Good morning and happy Sunday Internetland! It's quiet and a bit grey here in my corner of the Fort but I rather like it after the heat this month. Tuesday is the day! Routine returns even though it's roughly an hour later each day than last year. I think the girls are ready to be back into doing things again. There's only so much mom time and laziness that they can handle ;) So what did I do this last week? Actually it was rather productive. More mug rugs in different colors on Flynn and Rapunzel has been working away. I love the feel of silk both on and off the loom. These are test pieces for what I hope...
Good morning Internetland! I hope that this Sunday is treating you and yours well. The girls have survived their respective band camps finishing out strong with a mini concert and the DCI Championship watch party. Amanda's favorite corp The Bluecoats missed the gold by less than a tenth of a point! And we though State Championship scores were tight. So what did I do this week? Remember that messy looking black silk on Rapunzel? I got it all lined up, tied on and started weaving It's 60/2 silk from Redfish Dyeworks in the weft. The left photo is one repeat and measures one inch. Can't quite reveal what this is going to grow up to be just yet as it's...
Good morning and happy Sunday everyone! I hope that you had a great week and get to have some quiet time today before jumping into Monday again. We had a good week with jumping into band camps and getting some work done. So what did I do this week while the girls played music, got sunburnt and made sore muscles? I have a new idea that I'm going to try influenced by the dye course I took with Peggy Doney at the Estes Wool Market that I talked about here. To do this I wanted a smaller yarn swift to measure on. Off to Etsy I went and found Hornshaw Wood Works and this absolutely gorgeous yarn swift. It's made...
