Good morning Internetland! I hope that this Sunday is treating you and yours well. The girls have survived their respective band camps finishing out strong with a mini concert and the DCI Championship watch party. Amanda's favorite corp The Bluecoats missed the gold by less than a tenth of a point! And we though State Championship scores were tight. So what did I do this week? Remember that messy looking black silk on Rapunzel? I got it all lined up, tied on and started weaving It's 60/2 silk from Redfish Dyeworks in the weft. The left photo is one repeat and measures one inch. Can't quite reveal what this is going to grow up to be just yet as it's...
Good morning and happy Sunday everyone! I hope that you had a great week and get to have some quiet time today before jumping into Monday again. We had a good week with jumping into band camps and getting some work done. So what did I do this week while the girls played music, got sunburnt and made sore muscles? I have a new idea that I'm going to try influenced by the dye course I took with Peggy Doney at the Estes Wool Market that I talked about here. To do this I wanted a smaller yarn swift to measure on. Off to Etsy I went and found Hornshaw Wood Works and this absolutely gorgeous yarn swift. It's made...
Good morning and Happy Sunday to all of you! It may still be hot here but summer is winding down. Serra has gone to band camp all week to remember how to play her baritone sax again and marching band camp begins for Amanda on Monday. Nothing like 8-9 hour days of music, marching and sun. So what did I do this last week? We got to celebrate a birthday Friday evening so I can finally share a gift :) It's the traveling socks! My girls always give me grief for gifting socks to a July birthday. Well it's not my fault that that's when it is or that Redfish Dyeworks carries a Merino/Silk blend that I love. This project...
Good morning and Happy Sunday Internetland! It's that time of week again where I give you an update on all things crafty and not so crafty in my little corner of the Fort. This past week has seen a lot of heavy lifting and some news for some upcoming projects. The girls asked before our college visit tour if they could makeover their bedroom. After a week of a mass multitude of color swatches on the walls they narrowed it down to a pale sky blue. Monday was prep and clean, Tuesday paint and Wednesday move back in. Have to say that the crazy high temps this week certainly made it dry fast! They are very happy with the results...
Good morning and Happy Sunday yet again Internetland! It might be my misperception but this last week flew by really quick. So what did I do with it? Monday saw me finishing up my publish piece! It will be out in the February 2020 issue of Just Cross Stitch magazine. This is my second piece for them, the first will be in the Christmas Ornament Issue that will be out this fall. I used Treenway Silks Harmony 6-strand floss for both projects and will post links to both as soon as they are available. Treated myself with some new tatting shuttles this summer. Most times I limit myself to two a year from David Reed Smith but his work is...
