Peace and patience

Good Morning! The sun is shining bright in my little corner of the Fort today. I don't think it's quite as warm as it looks but seeing the sun helps in all sorts of ways. So far the girls and I are doing fairly well with the current state of affairs. Schoolwork started again and both of them are keeping up on things. I'm either a very relaxed mom or have taught them enough over the years to take care of their own work. They know better than I do what their teachers expect of them, I'm just here to answer questions and keep them on track. Besides Amanda lost me with her math level about two months into her...

Creativity works all hours

Good Morning! Pretty quiet here in my corner of the Fort but I also imagine most things are currently quiet everywhere. As for the three of us, we spent the week that was supposed to be Spring Break pretty much like we normally would have. A couple of errands, some tv marathons and generally just hanging out. Tomorrow however we've got to create some sense of adjusted normal with creating school routines again. As for craft things my brain woke me up at 5 this morning saying "your warp you wound yesterday for the Handwoven project is all wrong. You've got to adjust your color usage." So I've been awake doing just that. Unwinding a warp that I thought would...

What a difference a week makes

Good Morning! Wasn't really sure that I was going to write today but currently I have too many buzzing thoughts not to.  Last Saturday was filled with joyful tears, from Serra's performance in Science Olympiad and getting some college news for Amanda. This week however was filled with tears of anger and sadness. Science Olympiad State and Nationals have been cancelled and we've gotten an additional week of Spring Break along with continued worry about year end activities. It's hard when once in a lifetime events get affected. Thankfully they each understand the need to simply take things one day at a time. Most of the people that I have seen and talked with in person this week are cautious...

Pesky lost hour and a proud week

Good Morning and Happy Sunday! Very quiet here this morning as the girls are sleeping in after a couple of full days plus I'm sure no one wants to think about the time change. The Spring one is the worst because now I feel even more behind today simply because the clock says that I am. What did we do this last week? Amanda and Fossil Ridge took part in the concert band festival for the Colorado Bandmasters Association. All three of Fossil's bands scored Superior rankings and they will find out in the next few weeks if they qualified for the State round held in April. Serra had a big day Saturday with the Science Olympiad regionals. If you...

Even experienced artists make mistakes

Good Morning and Happy Sunday! Things are a little grey here in my corner of the Fort but that's nothing compared to the wacky weather day we had last Monday! A very weird snow storm came through lasting about 30 minutes and plastered the western side of everything. The movement of the storm seen in the sky afterward pretty much sums up the Colorado phrase of "If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes." I took these photos right after each other standing in the same spot. The left is facing east, the right facing west. Since then it's been quiet but the last few years March and April have been the wettest months. On to craft! Last night...
